Tickled Pink
Today is dedicated to my favorite color. Yup, June 23 is National Pink Day. Does your favorite color have a day?!

A Little Soak

How would you like to celebrate National Pink Day with a little soak in this tub?! I'm going to celebrate with a little soak in chlorine...we haven't been to the pool yet this summer - can you believe it?

I am so jealous that my friend Laura was born on National Pink Day. Happy Birthday, Laura!

Just Can't Get Enough

Just in case you didn't get enough James Merrell last week...I thought I should post a few more pix. I don't think I could ever get sick of browsing his photographs, and I can guarantee this won't be the last time I share his work!

Snazzy

The one word that comes to mind is classy. I love the chandelier, and I always love floor-to-ceiling window treatments.

Miette II

I realize I said I wouldn't be rambling this week, but do you remember my other post on Miette in San Francisco? I found some photos of their newest location, and I am thinking that Indianapolis is in desperate need of this patisserie! I would love to have a kitchen inspired by the shop. Actually, a combination of Miette and The Flying Cupcake. Perfect.

Photo Week

This is kind of a crazy week in our household, but it's hard for me to resist blogging - so I decided that I will just post photos without my usual ramblings. We'll start with a color combination I always enjoy. I am fascinated with pink and orange, but green and blue is another inspiring combo. Of course I was attracted to the tufted sofa as well. That's the last of my ramblings for this week!

Vintage Prom Dresses

I saw this photo of some bridesmaids on Snippet & Ink, and thought the idea of vintage prom dresses for the wedding party was adorable! I am absolutely not making any hints or suggestions for my friend Sara's wedding, but just enjoyed the pastels and the unique idea. I especially love the pink ones! Remember these vintage prom dresses from Miss Kate's house tour?!

My Confession

For me, this photo conjures up some major feelings. I am going to have to make a confession - so here it goes: I got hooked on ABC's October Road a few years ago, and it was cancelled after the second season...only they never had a chance to wrap things up in a finale, so my only option was to purchase season 2 when it came out on DVD in May. Randy and I have been watching an episode a night for the last few weeks, and were so excited to veg in front of the TV last night with a huge plate of spicy nacho Doritos (drenched in melted cheddar cheese), to get lost in the final episode. (He is going to love me for including him in this confession!)
Well, our "episode" was practically over before we were even able to finish half a plate of Doritos! It ended up being about a 15 minute wrap-up session, and the writers would have been better off just doing a slide show with photos of the cast, and using a cheesy narrator to give an update on each couple. One of the main characters was completely left out, and there was only one good line in the entire finale - it was horrible! The moral of the story is that you should never bother purchasing a DVD of a show that was cancelled - 'cuz chances are, there was a good reason for the cancellation. We found out the hard way.
So you are probably wondering about my confession, and what this photo has to do with any of it - right? Well, the confession was just the fact that I was hooked on the show. It was pretty corny, and some of the acting was rather average, but somehow we still fell in love with the characters - and the whole "small town" vibe. This photo actually reminds me of the wallpaper in Hannah's house, from the show. I loved her place, and that was possibly another factor leading to my disastrous DVD purchase. Actually, all of the interiors were pretty charming. This wallpaper also reminds me of the dressing room at Fossil. So, does anyone have a similar confession, to make me feel better?!

A few hours later...
Okay, it's a little later in the day now, and I have had some time to settle down about my disappointment, and I have to say that maybe I was a little harsh on the show. Honestly, I still love the characters and the overall story, but just wanted to see a little more development in some of the relationships, rather than just their final destiny. I will still claim to be a "roadie" - secretly!

WHY??? Let me tell you!

If you're thinking "why?" - I can explain! I saw this store called Home Girl on the SCOOP, and couldn't take my eyes off the right side of the photo. I am honestly ready to paint my kitchen table yellow, and go for the blue chairs! The shade over the table is making me drool. Here's the close-up. If I couldn't find the exact same shade, it looks like a good DIY project!

Hint Hint

My mom has made some beautiful blankets and stuffed animals for Kalia, so when I saw these dolls, I was wondering if she would be interested in another project! How's that for hinting?! (wink, wink)

Of course we think about our furniture, wallpaper or paint color, art and accessories - but how often do we actually think about our doors? I'm guessing not very often! Aren't these photos inspiring?! It makes me want to think about my doors. I doubt I'll go as far as upholstering them in zebra, but it's a fun idea!

My Pablo 'Picasa'

For years, I have been intimidated by photo tools on the internet - so I have been avoiding Picasa. Today, I conquered my fears, and Voila! In about 5 clicks and 3 minutes, I made a collage. Yay! Now my only fear is that I will soon be addicted to my new discovery. Ha! How do you like my masterpiece?!

Have I mentioned that I'm a fan of the pink and orange combo? J'adore the wallpaper...and did you notice the floor? Silhouettes!

Alicia Bock

Isn't this photo stunning?! I remember seeing an Alicia Bock post on Decor8 a few years ago - and now she has a very extensive list of magazines, websites and shows where you will find her work. Visit her etsy site, and you can purchase her oh-so-affordable photographs!
Stargazing Alternative

Rather than battling mosquitoes for a night of stargazing, you could open the windows for some fresh air, spread a blanket on the floor, and gaze at your ceiling. Isn't it gorgeous?!

Goldilocks and the Party

Kalia has an October birthday, but I am actually beginning to think about it and plan ahead. Way ahead. I just want it to be fabulous this year. We have always done a family party, and this will be her first kid celebration - so I want it to be extra special. I figure that if I choose a theme in advance, I can watch for favors, decorations, and ideas from now until October. I saw this adorable Goldilocks party on a room somewhere and thought it was pickin' cute. I haven't decided on a theme at this point, but this party was definitely inspiring!

National Doughnut Day

Well, I just couldn't stay away from blogging for the entire week. I found out that this happens to be National Doughnut Day, and several chains are offering free doughnuts! I figured that was news-worthy enough to come off my break for a moment. I will actually be driving home today to make it back for Kalia's soccer game tomorrow...so I think one of our little stops will have to be a doughnut shop. Yummmmm.
This is completely off the subject - but I usually dread long drives...or anything over an hour, anyway. Well, not today! I have three new CDs for the ride, and they're really good! One is a Pink Martini CD for me, and two are for Kalia - but they're fantastic! I found Jewel's Lullaby CD, and just love her version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I kind of bought the Ziggy Marley CD for Kalia and Randy, because he is the biggest Bob Marley fan you will ever meet. Ziggy is Bob's son, and happens to have a new CD called Family Time. Jack Johnson accompanies him in one song, as well as Laurie Berkner, and a few other famous musicians. It's a great kid CD, and I'm always looking for child-appropriate music for the car. Well, I'm off to celebrate Doughnut Day!

I Shall Return...

Well friends, Kalia and I are taking a spontaneous little trip to Grandma's...so I most likely won't be blogging for the rest of the week. I am leaving you with the Vogue Girl Korea post below for Friday's sweets. Have an amazing week, and I should be back by Monday!

Mmmmoulding

For me, it's not about the green chairs or the pink art (although I do love pink). It's all about the moulding.

Darling Photo Shoot

These photos were taken by Tec Petaja for the wedding issue of Nashville Lifestyles. I was a little disappointed when I read that it was all staged, 'cuz the couple is so darn cute, and I love their small, intimate, country wedding. Plus, I'm a hopeless romantic, and thought they were truly in love. They had me fooled! Although, in hindsight, the first photo is a little model-esque. I don't think Randy and I could have pulled it off! You can click on "Tec Petaja" above, to see the entire photo shoot.
