Have a Sweet Little Weekend!

Teacup Catastrophe

I love this image from Dreamhouse. Notice the teacups? I saw those at Anthropologie - at an Anthropologie price...and then at Christmastime, Wal-mart had the same set for ten bucks! I am really kicking myself for not making the purchase.

New Neighbors

I snapped some pix of our new neighbors. The mama looked enormous for a few weeks, and we kept waiting to see babies. We just saw them for the first time a couple days ago, and they were already huge! I guess the mama was just sitting on them, but now they're outgrowing the nest.

Yummy Kitchens

Okay, I want the red teapot in the first picture, I LOVE the "Ice Cream Parlour" sign in the second photo, and I would love to own all those espresso machines in the third image. It would be a cute display in a coffee shop!

Preschool Graduate

Today is Kalia's last day of Preschool, and then we're on summer break...so I'm doing a "kid post" in honor of my Preschool Graduate! Aren't these dolls adorable? I saw them on Bloesem Kids, and you can purchase them on ETSY, at the shop Sophie & Lili. So pickin' cute!

Quirky Inspiration

I'll be the first to admit this picture is rather quirky...but I also have to admit that I like it! There is a lot going on, but the colors are beautiful. I love the wrapping paper, the variety of seating, and even the crazy walls! I can't say that I would paint my own house in such a way, but I can definitely appreciate the photo.

Breaking News

I almost didn't check any blogs today, but I'm waiting for my cookies to come out of the oven, and it seemed like a good time to sit down for a few mintues...and I'm SO glad I did! I stopped by Decor8, and there was a beautiful post on Amy Butler - but to my surprise, it wasn't a typical fabric post. Nope. Amy Butler is coming out with a line of BEDDING!!! Hooray! Apparently it will be available at her online shop in July, and at select Bed, Bath & Beyond stores. Isn't this wonderful news?!

Frou Frou

I can't help it - I'm a girly girl! I especially love these skirts on little girls with converse sneakers. If I could be a kid again, I would own one in every color!

(77 Kids) American Eagle has a little kids' line now!!

Hmmmm...

I am starting a little collection of photos for paint color inspiration. I am definitely thinking about something in the green-ish / blue-ish color family. I'm just not sure if I want blue or green to be more dominant. Hmmmm...

Bucket List

Last week, when I was checking out some rugs at World Market, I had to peek at the toys. Do you remember Shrinky Dinks?! Recently, I pointed them out to my friend Angela, and she had never seen them before. I'm hoping that "Shrinky Dinks" has been added to her bucket list.

I'm also loving the paper bead kit, and the cute cups for kids. Who knew World Market was such a great source for toys?!

Serial Returner

I found these adorable plastic cups for Kalia at Target right before Easter, and failed to share them on here. If you have shopped with me before, you know that I carry the things I like around the store...analyze the item based on need vs. want...re-analyze...put it back...sometimes, pick it up again...and then leave with absolutely nothing! Sound familiar? Or here's scenario 2: I go through the same process...leave with the item...return it two days later. I can't explain my shopping process. That's just how I roll! (wink, wink). Flea Markets and antique stores are very tricky for me, because I don't have that return option! Anyone else a "serial returner"?

My story has a point - I promise! At Target, you have to purchase your item right away. Just about everything I have ever passed up and gone back to purchase a day or two later, is sold out. I went back for these cups, and lucked out because there were two left, but when I first saw them, there were probably twenty on the shelf!

Born Into Brothels

Since our 4-year-old goes to bed around 8 o'clock, we're a little bit limited on our weekend entertainment options. We usually end up watching movies - or playing a little backgammon together. This past Friday, we flipped through "On Demand" for free movies, and found Born Into Brothels. My dear friend Sara is very interested in the sex trafficking issues in India, and actually spent several months there doing some mission work, and Randy and I were intrigued by the movie description. I was a little uneasy about the title, and wondered if it was going to be overly graphic.

We watched the entire documentary, and didn't have any regrets! Well, I guess we had one. We regretted the fact that we couldn't adopt all the children in the movie. It was a wonderful story about a photographer who decided to spend some time in a brothel, and taught the children living there how to use a camera. She sent them out to photograph the world from their perspective, and attempted to get them into schools and a better way of life. We just fell in love with the kids, and their photos were pretty amazing as well! You can purchase their work at http://www.kids-with-cameras.org/ to help support their education.

If you haven't seen the movie, I should warn you that it was pretty heart wrenching. It's just unbelievable how some of the mothers treat the children. I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie if you've seen it already - or once you do!

Chocolat

As I mentioned before, we went to the Chocolate Cafe for dessert this weekend, and I was reminded of the movie Chocolat. I haven't seen it in forever, but I remember it as being slightly odd, and delightful at the same time. How did you feel about it?

Spoiled Rotten

Did you have a nice Mother's Day weekend? Randy and Kalia spoiled me rotten! We have been living in the Indianapolis area for about nine months now, and haven't gotten around to exploring downtown - so they took me for lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory. It was incredible! It wasn't really the food as much as the atmosphere that was so impressive. Our waitress told us that the one in Indianapolis used to be a shoe factory, and each restaurant location has its own unique history.

After lunch, we drove around and took pictures of Kalia and some of the architecture. There are so many beautiful Churches and buildings around here, and I was so excited to have my camera back from the repair shop, so I just had to use it! After our little photography session, we went to the Chocolate Cafe on the main circle in the middle of town. We split a delicious cheesecake, and had some dark chocolate drinks. The shop was adorable - decorated with vintage chocolate tins and posters. Lastly, we headed on to Massachusetts Avenue, where we found the best toy shop EVER! What did you do to celebrate the day?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, my mama friends, and my friends' mamas!

So Pickin' Pink

When I was a little girl, I LOVED pink. I suppose it was about the time I hit Jr. High that I was embarassed to say I enjoyed the color - so I began telling friends (particularly boys) that blue was my favorite. Now, I'm not ashamed. I LOVE pink. I can't get enough pink! Thank goodness I have a little girl...and now she says that pink is her favorite color too. Three cheers for pink!

The Price Is Right

I have been obsessed with this red and turquoise indoor/outdoor rug from KoKo for a few years now - and even watched as it went up in price. I never purchased it because for one, I don't need it. Secondly, it doesn't actually go with my decor...so I couldn't justify spending $52 (plus shipping). Last night, my mom called with some good news - World Market has some great polypropylene indoor/outdoor rugs for $16.99! Now that, I can justify. I have to admit that I still love the design on the KoKo rug, but will definitely settle for the World Market substitute. I'm considering the teal and green combo, but the other two are still in the running. I might have to base my decision on what's in stock at our local World Market!

Daydreams

Sometimes I daydream about owning a bakery, bed and breakfast, or boutique, and other times I imagine myself as a wedding coordinator. Wouldn't it be fun to help women plan their dream day? I just love these wedding inspiration boards from Snippet & Ink.

Ooooooo, I have an idea! We all love house tours, so what would you think about peeking at some weddings? Anyone interested?!

Impressionistic Cinematography

Since I'm on a wedding kick today, I just had to share this amazing video that Rebekka sent my way. It's absolutely incredible! LINK
